GRADUAN ASPIRE Career & Postgraduate Fair 2018 (Opening Ceremony & ASPIRE 500 Conference)

Sharing a cocktail table with two gentlemen from Sapura Energy leads to a short but meaningful conversation about the career insights in Malaysia. I was among the lucky undergraduates who was invited to the Graduan ASPIRE Opening Ceremony and ASPIRE 500 Conference 2018 held at the KL Convention Centre on the 21th July 2018.

The event was aimed at undergraduates and recent graduates from selected varsities. These participants were known as Talents. Among the universities participating for the event were Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and KPJ Healthcare University College. Upon registration, the Talents were led to a breakfast buffet session before the start of the opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony started at 8.00 am with a speech from Mrs Elia Talib, the Managing Director of GRADUAN and was officiated by the Youth and Sports Minister, YB Syed Saddiq bin Syed Abdul Rahman. 

The ceremony was then followed up with the ASPIRE 500 Conference session. Ben Ibrahim took the role as the moderator. This year's panel comprises of the top leaders in their field. The guests were Ms Aiza Azreen Ahmad, Strategic Development Director of Boost, Mr Nabil Marie, Director of Graduan, Mr Halif Hamzah, Country General Manager of Traveloka, and Mr Lim Teck Yong, Regional Head of People of Shopee.  

It was a casual affair as the panel share their experiences and opinions regarding the topic; Hiring in The Digital Age: What's Next? The floor opened up during the Q&A session and there were many brilliant questions inquired by the fellow Talents. The session ends at 11.00 am and the participants were given a certificate of appreciation. In all, it has been a wonderful experience and I hope to participate again in the near future.
